Quick answer: A last minute Christmas trip to Orlando is still realistic if your flights and a place to stay are settled, because the holiday events run for weeks and several are included with theme park admission. What can get hard late is anything with a reservation window or limited tickets, such as Disney dining and special-ticket nights, so plan those first, keep your gear simple by renting instead of packing, and remember that Honest Sherpa is closed on December 25.

We checked each fact below against the official page on October 12, 2026. Dates, hours and rules change, so confirm before you book.

Key Takeaways

  • Pick one or two big days instead of trying to fit everything in. Many Christmas events are included with park admission, and some are not.
  • Disney allows dining reservations up to 60 days in advance, and its hours calendar stopped accepting dates after December 11 when we checked, so Christmas week hours were not posted yet.
  • Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party ends December 22, and Disney says event tickets are limited and may not be available on the day of the event.
  • Universal Orlando's holiday events run November 14, 2026 to January 3, 2027 and are included with a theme park ticket, with blockout dates for some passes.
  • Honest Sherpa says that for late requests it attempts same-day delivery and otherwise delivers first thing the next morning, and it does not promise availability. It is closed on December 25.
  • Florida requires children under 6 to ride in a child restraint, so plan your car seat before you land.

Disney: what to book first

If Disney is on your list, the official Disney vacation checklist page says guests with a Disney Resort hotel can book dining for their whole stay 60 days out, and all other guests, including families in vacation homes, can book up to 60 days in advance. It also says you can add your party to the walk-up list at select table-service restaurants if you have no reservation. Most restaurants charge $10 per person to cancel within 2 hours of the reservation or for a no-show, according to Disney's dining help page.

For Christmas Day at Disney World, note that Disney had not posted December 25 hours when we checked. Disney says theme park reservations are no longer required for date-based tickets, and its planning page says they may be required based on the date of the visit and the admission type, so check your ticket.

Universal and SeaWorld on short notice

Universal Orlando's holiday page lists the holidays at Universal for November 14, 2026 to January 3, 2027, included with a theme park ticket or annual pass (blockout dates may apply). It also lists an optional Universal Holiday Tour on select dates from November 14, 2026 to January 2, 2027, a guided daytime tour of about 2.5 hours for up to 12 guests per tour. Theme park admission is not included in the tour price. Our Universal Orlando Christmas guide for kids covers the rest.

SeaWorld's Christmas Celebration page says the event is included with theme park admission and that no prior reservations to attend are required. That page lists its dates in two different ways (November 6, 2026 to January 4, 2027, and November 7 to January 5), so check the show schedule on the SeaWorld Christmas Celebration page for the day you plan to go. See our SeaWorld Christmas guide for toddlers for more.

A flexible plan for a last-minute Christmas week

This is our advice, not an official itinerary. Adjust it to your arrival date.

  1. Arrival day: keep it easy. Grocery run, a nap and an early dinner at the house.
  2. Next day: one park or event day, with the highest-priority reservation.
  3. Christmas Eve: a low-key day with a pool, a walk or a holiday lights evening. Our Christmas lights guide has ideas.
  4. Christmas Day: time at the house with a tree, gifts and a big meal, or a short park visit if hours allow.
  5. The day after: a second park or event day, since much of the holiday programming continues into early January.

For more events, see our Christmas in Orlando guide and the winter break itinerary.

Rent instead of packing: what a last-minute family can get delivered

A late trip is the best time to pack light. Honest Sherpa rents gear and delivers it to your vacation home free of charge, with delivery scheduled for the day you arrive and pickup for the day you leave. Car seats and Florida law

The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles says Florida law requires children age 5 and under to be secured in a crash-tested, federally approved child restraint. Children ages 0 to 3 must use a separate carrier or a vehicle manufacturer's integrated child seat, and children ages 4 through 5 must use a separate carrier, integrated child seat or booster seat. Read the Florida safety belt and child restraint page for the full rules. Honest Sherpa lists a convertible car seat (rear-facing 5 to 40 lbs, forward-facing 22 to 65 pounds, per the product page) and a booster seat for ages 4 to 10, 40 to 100 pounds and up to 57 inches tall. See also our guide to renting a car seat in Orlando.

A tree and dinner at the last minute

Honest Sherpa's Christmas page lists a 7 ft pre-lit artificial tree and live trees, and the product pages say they are available Thanksgiving through New Years. The live tree pages carry a "(48 HR CANCELLATION REQUIRED)" note, and the Full Service Tree Decoration page says to schedule in advance, so a late order may be simpler with a decoration kit you hang yourself. Details are in our guide to renting a Christmas tree in Orlando. For the meal, see the Christmas dinner checklist.

How late can you order, and what about December 25?

The Honest Sherpa site says it operates every day of the year but Christmas, and its date picker shows "We are closed on December 25." For last-minute requests, the site says it attempts to deliver the same day and otherwise delivers first thing the next morning. For add-ons during your stay, it says it will do its best to deliver that day or the next. These are attempts, not promises, so we cannot tell you that a particular item will be available on a particular date. Enter your zip code or city on the site to see if your address is covered and what is available for your dates.

  • If you arrive on December 25, choose another delivery date, such as December 24 (before you arrive) or December 26.
  • If you leave on December 25, choose another pickup date.
  • Order the car seat and the crib or Pack and Play first, since those are the items a trip with a baby depends on (this is our advice, not a site rule).

You can update your order in the system any time before delivery day, according to the site.

Booking a place to stay late

We do not have an official source for availability or prices, so we are not going to give numbers. In general, before you book a vacation home for Christmas week, ask about check-in and check-out times, whether the home allows a live tree or decorations, what baby gear is included, and the cancellation terms. Each answer affects what you need to rent. Our baby gear checklist for vacation rentals and the Orlando holiday packing list help you decide what to pack and what to rent.
