Long Term Rentals Homeowners have the option to rent items from Honest Sherpa on an ongoing basis so that the items can be added as amenities always available in the home. In this case, we continually service the products after each rental, always ensuring that guests have fresh, sanitized gear, but the Homeowner covers the cost for the guest as if it's a product that they own and manage. An example where this might make sense is a gas grill. If you want to ensure that your home always has a gas grill available as an amenity, but you do not want to deal with cleaning or maintaining it ... or the constant need for the gas to be filled up. If you had contracted with Honest Sherpa, you'd have a fresh, fully-gassed up grill delivered before every guest arrives. This is just one example - contact us to learn more about this service.
Guest Rentals In all other cases, guests can rent amenities and we fulfill accordingly. As with property managers, we offer two primary options, Managed Service or Affiliate Service.
Managed Service In the Managed Service option, the Homeowner signs up for a Wholesale Account with Honest Sherpa to receive discount pricing. The homeowner manages the guest experience and offers our full assortment of products to their guests. Guests rent directly from the homeowner and the homeowner sends the orders to us. Usually in this scenario, guest do not interact with Honest Sherpa as our job is to deliver and pickup the products only. In this option, we bill on the first of each month for all deliveries that occurred in the prior month. Homeowners pay Honest Sherpa Wholesale Prices and have the option to charge guests whatever pricing they deem appropriate. In this option, homeowners are the first line of defense for all customer service related items with the guest, contacting us any time additional products are needed, or if there are questions or issues with a prior delivery.
Affiliate Service Another option for Homeowners is the Affiliate Service option. In this case, Honest Sherpa fully manages the entire rental process, including order taking, order management, billing, customer service and delivery. The homeowner has no role to fill in this process as we take care of everything. In this option, homeowners make guests aware of our service before they arrive by providing web links to our affiliate landing pages in their confirmation and follow up email sequences, on their web pages, and anywhere else customers might visit. This allows the customer to freely order directly from us. We manage their request and the entire guest experience with our products. Homeowners can also place flyers and other marketing collateral inside of their homes so that guests can easily scan a bar code, open our mobile app, and order anything they might need while on vacation. No matter how or when a guest orders from us in the Affiliate Service scenario, in each case the order is tracked back to the address where gear is to be delivered and identified as the homeowner's property. At the end of each month, all orders are totaled for the homeowner (for all homes rented if more than one) and an affiliate fee is sent via wire transfer to an account of the homeowner's choosing. While the Affiliate Service is a hands-off approach and the resulting affiliate fees just as valuable as the margin on products sold via the Managed Service option, the question is how much control a homeowner prefers to have over the process. In either case, we do everything we can to make the entire process as smooth and efficient as possible for all parties involved.
Order and Delivery Process Our Order and Delivery Process with Homeowners is very simple, depending on which method you're choosing to use to work with us.
Option 1. Managed Service Approach - Manual Processing If you're using a Managed Service approach and choose to manage the guest experience yourself, you can take the order from the guest in whatever format you choose, and then order directly on the Honest Sherpa Website or Mobile App, which will display your Wholesale Pricing and allow you to book in a few easy steps. No money is requested during booking - we simply take the order and scheduled it in our software. Once the guest's check-in date approaches, we deliver the products directly to the vacation home and pick them up on their check-out date. We require a credit card to be on file for billings and charge the card on the first of each month, so whatever products were delivered during the previous month are billed in that invoice. All invoices are stored in your online account and all of your addresses are also stored in the account, making the ordering process quick and efficient.
Option 2. Managed Service Approach - Landing Page If you choose to use a Managed Service approach, but do not want the hassle of manually entering orders or managing website updates to display all of the products we offer, there is an easier approach. We have developed Landing Page Templates for homeowners. These templates are white labeled by address and allow guests to book all products directly on the Landing Page. In this scenario, homeowners direct guests to the landing page web link from the confirmation and follow up email sequences, from the checkout page, or from any other touch point the guest might have with the homeowner. This ensures that multiple approaches are used to maximize the opportunity for the guest to become aware of all of the rental products available to them. In this scenario, Honest Sherpa manages the landing page, ensuring that all products are available for rent. The booking from the landing page goes directly into our software, taking away the need for homeowners to manually enter orders. Honest Sherpa manages the ordering process and homeowners receive a confirmation of the booking and bills guests directly, manages their customer service needs, and Honest Sherpa fulfills the order. As in all cases, once the guest's check-in date approaches, Honest Sherpa delivers the products rented directly to the vacation home and pick them up on their check-out date. We require a credit card to be on file for billings and charge the card on the first of each month, so whatever products were delivered during the previous month are billed in that invoice. All invoices are stored in your online account.
Option 3. Affiliate Service Approach In this approach, homeowners are allowed to take a completely hands off approach to the process of guests renting gear and amenities. The homeowner's primary task is awareness - ensuring that the guest is fully aware of the products offered by Honest Sherpa. Honest Sherpa fully manages the entire rental process, including order taking, order management, billing, customer service and delivery. Homeowners make vacationers aware of our offerings before they arrive by providing web links to affiliate landing pages located on HonestSherpa.com. They provide these links in their confirmation and follow up email sequences, on their web pages, and anywhere else customers might visit. This allows the customer to freely order directly from Honest Sherpa, and for us to manage their request in its entirety. Homeowners are encouraged to place flyers and other marketing collateral that we provide inside of their homes so that vacationers can easily scan a bar code, open our mobile app and order anything they might need. Every order placed with us for any homes you have signed up with us receives a referral fee. The referral fees are set up to match the margin that would have been received by Options 1 or 2 above, so if the homeowners prefers to take a hands-off approach to the process and just make additional money on their rental home, the Affiliate Service approach will be the best solution for them, making them as much money as the other approaches, with less headaches.
